Book Fair is Coming!
Our Scholastic Book Fair will be from March 16th- March 20th.  Please click the image below to see our fair homepage, as well as order online!  Please call the school if you have questions or concerns!

PTA Survey from UNC

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with funding from The North Carolina Parent Teachers Association (NCPTA),  is conducting research through a brief survey to determine how PTAs can better support schools’ and parents’ efforts to raise healthy children. It will only take 10 minutes so, if you are interested, please follow this link (  to share your thoughts and opinions on child health and the roles of PTA’s and schools in supporting child health!  Thank you!

Love the Bus
The month of February is "Love the Bus" month!  We have wonderful, caring bus drivers who go above and beyond to make sure our students make it to and from school safely!  We appreciate each of our drivers and are thankful for you! 
National School Counselor Week
February 2nd - February 6th is National School Counseling Week.  We would like to thank our school counselor, Mrs. Betty Ross, for all of her hard work and dedication to Glenwood Elementary students and staff!  We love you and appreciate you, Mrs. Ross!
Who-ba-lation Celebration
On December 18th, Glenwood students and staff had a Who-ba-lation Celebration with character education activities and a wonderful performance by our 3rd graders.  Click the video below to see our Whos!
Track Pack Field Trip
During the month of October, Glenwood students participated in the Subway Fit for Life Challenge.  As a culminating activity, Track Pack members attended a Run, Jump, Throw Event at Enka High School, sponsored by Subway and the US Track and Field team.  Track pack members participated in different track and field activities, and had a wonderful time exercising!  Click on the video below to see some of our track packers in action!  

Red Ribbon Week 2014
Glenwood students and staff participated in Red Ribbon Week activities October 27th-October 31st.  
  • On Monday, the theme was "Be Strong, Be True, Be You: Bully and Drug Free."  Students signed a pledge that they would be drug and bully free, and also wore red to support Red Ribbon Week. 
  • On Tuesday, the theme was "I have the POWER to be Bully and Drug Free!"  Students and staff members dressed up as their favorite superheroes.
  • On Wednesday, the theme was "Keep your head in the game: Be bully and drug free!"  Students and staff participated in crazy hair day or hat day.
  • On Thursday, the theme was "Join the Fight Against Bullying, Drugs, and Unhealthy Habits." Students and staff wore camouflage on that day.
  • On Friday, the theme was "Think of all that you can be when you stay bully and drug free!"  Students and staff dressed up in their career choice that day.

GUGOGA Boot Camp
On Friday, October 17th, Special Areas teachers organized a GUGOGA (Get Up, Get Out, Get Active!) Bootcamp as part of our "Fit-tober" healthy living initiative.  During this bootcamp, students learned about making healthy choices by participating in fun, active games and activities.  It was a great day for everyone!

Gear Up Week!
Glenwood Elementary School participated in Gear Up Week from September 22nd to September 26th.  During this week, students were encouraged to think about life after elementary school.  High school graduation and different college choices were the focus of our week long event.  Click here to see some examples of how our students and staff supported their favorite schools! 
Track Pack
Track Pack will meet every Wednesday morning beginning at 7:15, and students will be dismissed to go to class at 7:45.  Come join us for some great fun and exercise!
Gardening Club
Gardening Club will meet every Wednesday from 2:45-3:45.  Club sponsors are Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Silver.
Box Tops for Education
Glenwood families, please keep saving your Box Tops and return those to Mrs. Debbie Brewer in the Successmaker lab.  Our school goal is $2000 this year!   Thanks for your support!
